1. I have a headache and I need a distraction. So I got myself a meme:

Give me a TVD quote. Any quote (but, you know, reasonably long). I'll try to guess who said it and in what circumstances. If I fail, you get to ask me any question of you choose (fandom-related or not), if, on the other hand, I succeed, I get to ask you a question!

2. Real life stuff. There is this ten-year-old girl I'm teaching English, and today we were having a lesson on London. I brought some pictures, and leaflets and stuff, it was supposed to be fun. And, among the pictures from the Movieum (I started showing them because of the Harry Potter exhibition) there was one with the Tardis and a Dalek. I didn't even plan on showing it, it just happened to be in the folder. My student correctly recognized the Doctor Who prompts, then gave me a brief yet accurate summary of Turn Left, and ended up asking me if we could have a Doctor Who lesson next week, because she loves this show. SHE IS TEN. I wish someone had taken a picture of my face...

It seems like lately I've been spending most of my TVD discussing time speculating about things I want to happen. So I figured I need a separate Wishful Thinking Post, because right now I mix up my wishes with my observations, and sometimes it turnes out that I'm talking gibberish ;).

It's some sort of an intellectual experiment ― I'm bored, my literature classes are not as good as I expected them to be, my TVD discussions on a forum are mostly dying, so I've been entertaining myself with creating this interpretation. I'm well aware that it's not the only possible way of looking at the show, and it certainly leaves out some aspects, but, well. If I wanted to include everything, I'd have to write a book ;).

The more time I spend writing meta posts about Caroline, the more I am tempted to put it aside just for a little while and write a huge meta about TVD friendships in general. So I'm just going to combine those two and write about Caroline's friendships, it should satisfy my need for a while :).

I believe some explanation is in order. The thing is, I'm quite a lousy shipper. I tend to ship canon (like Buffy/Spike or Jack/Ianto) and I usually fail to notice obvious yet not explicitly canon chemistry (like Damon/Alaric) until my friends point me at it and say: "See, this is chemistry, and you are not human if you can't see it." And even then I like to take sexual tension away from the equation from time to time ― a new angle is always refreshing.

So, four people and four dialogues I associate with their friendships with Caroline. It's a sort of experiment. I was wondering what kind of picture would I get if I just combined the first four scenes that come to my mind when I think about Caroline's friends. See what I got.

idrilka. At least this time it was fun for her, because I'm braindead and I made some typos that are gonna be remembered for the next ten years.

Again, I wasn't supposed to be writing about Elena. I was supposed to focus on Donna Noble (Doctor Who) and do it in Polish, but than I started reading all those TVD meta posts and discussions on

womenlovefest and they are so inspiring I can't stop writing about TVD characters. Seriously, this started out as celebrating female characters, but right now it's a huge brainstorm that gives me loads of meta ideas and five plotbunnies per hour. Since there is a ficathon coming on

multifandom_pl, I really owe you guys.

I am a faithful Elena/Damon shipper, although my ideas as to how this ship could look like started to change as the series went on. I also enjoy my threesome and I have some secondary pairings I support, but when it comes to romantic relationships in TVD, Elena/Damon is my main point of focus (~~partly because there is a girl on my flist who writes such amazing Stefan I don't even have the courage to start~~). Only during the fest-related discussions did I realize that this ship is actually my way of interpreting Elena, so it might be interesting to write a meta instead of yet another fic.

Because I'm an Elena/Damon shipper for all the wrong reasons.

I probably first heard this song in the original version, since both of my parents are Queen fans, but I don't remember it at all. I got all crazy about „The Show Must Go On” only after watching Moulin Rouge, and it doesn't matter that later on I grew to love how Freddie Mercury sang it. In my mind „The Show Must Go On” will always have a face of Nicole Kidman and will always be about a girl who is too proud to give up and show her weakness, even though (or perhaps: because?) she knows she is going to die soon. Only while writing this entry did I realize that the lyrics are much more ambigious than I originally thought and the song might be perceived as bitter or desperate. That's why I decided to post this version ― I need Nicole Kidman singing „I'll top the bill” for this song to be undoubtedly about pride. The kind of pride I find in Caroline.

There are many other things I'm supposed to be doing right now, and I wasn't even going to write anything about Elena for

womenlovefest, but I can't help it, I need it out of my system ;).

The only argument I ever had about Elena took place a couple of months ago during some episode discussion on 2x20 The Last Day and I still strongly belive in everything I said back then, so I might as well make it into a short yet proper meta.

Ok, now that I'm more or less finished with being stunned by all the

womenlovefest awesomeness and I've regained the ability to express myself coherently, I shall proceed to meta writing ;). I've spent the last three days on adrenaline rush I'm recovering from right now, so I'm afraid my meta is more like a stream of consciousness rather than a proper essay. This entry is focused rather on season one than season two, but there are season two references, hence the spoiler alert. I was simply re-watching some episodes from early season one with a friend just last week, and now I seem to take most of my examples from there. Tonight I plan on seeing some season two episodes, just for a change ;).
