Ok, I'm back on board (at least with the meme)!


Day 2 - Your least favorite character

I'll go for Matt. I always have a problem with this kind of questions, because if I already watch something, my feelings usually go somewhere between love and indifference, but it's rare for me to really dislike a character. But with Matt, well... Zach Roerig's acting isn't really convincing for me, and Matt's s3 storyline just bores me to death. In s2 I kind of enjoyed all the issues with him being Joe Normal among this whole craziness, but in s3 it just doesn't work for me. He makes me yawn a lot. Of course his behavior towards Caroline doesn't help him (Oh, btw, your mom will hate you forever, and she'll probably try to kill you, I'M OUT OF THIS SHIT), but I'm a Damon fan, so I have no moral ground to judge a character just because he is a dick. Boredom, though, is a completely different matter.

Non-fannish things:

1). My mother had a whim and brought me cranberries. Now, apparently, I'm supposed to take them and make something brilliant. I have no idea what to do, but I guess I can always make a cake. Tommorow I'm spending an entire afternoon in the kitchen anyway (I'm doing Grandma a favor and baking cheesecakes for her).

2) I'm back in crochet mode. Winter is coming...

Hahaha Matt. I think there was a time during S1 that I was vaguely fond of him? But now I 100 percent agree with you. He's the weakest link in a show full of good actors and the writing for his character mostly makes him seem like a dick without any of the interesting layers that make Damon compelling.

I was kind of fond of him myself in s1, but now he is just waisted potential. He could be awesome, because on a vampire show a guy who is determined to stay the hell out of this supernatural crap could offer amazing outsider's perspective, but something just went wrong in the process :(.

But srsly tho. +1. I think there was a line said by Bonnie or someone in S1 about how Caroline "deserves a guy like Matt" after the Damon business, which... Well. There's my problem with the handling of Matt's character right there.

And also Matt Roerig is a black hole of charisma.

It kind of makes me wonder how Matt was with Elena. Because Caroline in s1, with her low self-esteem, was such an easy prey for a guy like Matt :((((. But Elena? This girl takes no shit from anyone. Now that I think about it I kind of want Elena to kick Matt's ass for how he treats Caroline. Repeatedly.

I actually love Matt... a lot. Even when he's being boring. BUT. I'll admit that I hated his behaviour towards Caroline in 221, to the point where I actually have to repress that whole scene to continue to love him. So. I do get it.

I find it difficult to dislike characters, in general, but with Matt I just feel that the writers blew his storyline. He could've been the one who doesn't accept the supernatural, who is genuinely freaked out and wants everything to go back to normal. I thought that's who he was going to be, but the writers failed in integrating him with the main storyline somehow, so he can't serve this purpose right now. And that's why I'm dissapointed.

What Matt did in 2x21 was horrible, but my reasons to like fictional characters are different from my reasons to like actual people ;). I'd probably hate Damon's guts if I knew him in real life.
